Francis Report 03-29 Dave Francis Well, it looks as though things may be coming to a head in Israel. As I write this, there are reports that the Israeli’s are laying siege to Yassar Arafat’s Ramallah headquarters. We may be on the brink of full-scale war in the mid east. I hope so. It is time to choose sides. It’s time to suit up and go to war. I don’t even want to concern myself with the origins, with whether Israel was correct or not, the time for talk is over. Nobody in Cheyenne Wyoming would be expected to sit idly by if some Native Americans were to go on a rampage, killing people who were 'occupying' land that had been theirs. We would use whatever force was necessary to find, neutralize, and punish, (to the point of death.) the offenders. Israel finds itself in this, to you and I, unbelievable situation. People have been saying, in some quarters, that Israel is the cause of the problems, but those same people want to ignore the horrors that the Palestinians and Arabs perpetrate. If we, the USA, are going to have a serious war on terror, then we need to engage the enemy. The Palestinian Authority, headed by Arafat, has declared war on Israel. They have done so openly, and unapologetically. They have done so with the backing of, and at the behest of, a majority of the Arab states in the region. The Israeli’s to their credit, have been remarkably reticent to this point. In the case of a war, Arafat is a legitimate target, but the Israeli’s have refused to push the button on him. If there is no war, he should be captured, and brought to trial. It is time to act. It is also time we in the USA, took them at their word. Let's assume they are serious. That being the case, do we want to have anything to do with them? I don’t see why. They are belligerent, obnoxious, murdering thugs. If they were your neighbors, I don’t think ‘dialogue’ would be your plan. I think something a bit more basic, like protecting your family would take center stage. It is time to treat them like the Nazis. Isolate them, disrupt them, and if need be, engage them militarily. To put it simply, kill them, until they, as a force, cease to exist. We are all in a war. Not just the US, not just Israel, but the west. It is a culture war, a religious war. Israel, and its government, is a thorn in the side of the Arabs. It is a reminder of their impotence, and nothing short of it's total destruction will quell the envy and hatred that boils within the hearts of the uncivilized Arab street. Just as in WW II there were Germans who abhorred the Nazi regime, there are Arabs who cast disapproving eyes at the terrorists in their midst. Just like the Germans in WW II, the vast majority of Arabs want to live in peace. That desire wasn’t good enough then, and it isn’t good enough now. If the masses now, just like the masses then, allow their land, governments, and monies to be used by cruel, evil regimes in the pursuit of animalistic ally brutal goals, then those people will find themselves in the line of fire. The Arabs who disagree sit quietly as the minority drives the debate. The moderates sit idly by while the bin Ladin’s, Arafat’s and Gadaffi’s try to turn the world into something they envision in their warped minds. Cheering crowds in the Arab street tells the story we need to hear. Until the majority takes responsibility for the regimes they live under, we in the west need to deal with the reality that is represented by suicide bombers who are exponentially increasing their destructiveness through state run propaganda organs, charities whose funds are malevolently used for murder and mayhem, and a uniquely sick culture that glorifies the slaughter of innocents. It is time the US took the moral lead in squashing these tinhorn dictators, and installing regimes that will, if nothing else, refrain from killing people outside their borders. The front line in this war is hard to find. It fluctuates every day. There is one constant though. Israel is a battleground. Hamas, Hizbollah, the PA, and several other criminally malignant organizations (ie. Syria, Iran, Iraq…) can be found there, making war on civilians. Using uncivilized means to destabilize the only democracy in the region. It is time to close with the enemy. Make war. Let’s teach them that it is a dangerous game they have decided to play. If they want to become martyrs, I say we facilitate the request. We need to keep our eye on the mission. To stop terror without dealing a death blow to the tormentors in Israel will only be possible if THEY win. The only way the terrorists will stop, unless we stop them with ugly, brutal force, is if they can crush the will of the west to fight. Even then, if they are to be believed, they won’t stop. Their version of Islam says to make war on infidels everywhere. Not just in Jerusalem. Not just in the Golan Heights. Not just in Andalusia, (Spain) but in Iowa, Saskatchewan, and anywhere else non-Muslims live. Under the Taliban, photos, pictures, statues, and other likenesses of beings were forbidden because only Allah can create. I think most of us remember the destruction of the Buddha statues. The most egregious offense was to own a television. The images displayed were considered the worst form of sacrilege, and the Taliban rooted out people with hidden televisions and imprisoned (or worse...) them. After reading several dozen stories about the fervent religious beliefs of these people, and their strict adherence, I wondered, "How is it that Osama is making these videos? How are they edited, and how did they expect anyone to see them? Why do they sell these posters and t-shirts of bin Ladin in Pakistan? Does the label say "Made in Paradise"? Do the wearers, sellers, and viewers think that these products were made by Allah, then transported on a magic carpet here to earth? Maybe they are just a hypocritical bunch of cut-throats who are using a religion to dominate in a world where they have failed to achieve what they think should be their rightful station in life.... Maybe." In Northern Pakistan, the reports are becoming more ominous. Groups of Taleban and Al Qaeda fighters are gathering, preparing for the spring offensive. Pakistan’s secret service, the ISI, is suspected of hiding and helping the groups to maintain anonymity in largely lawless northern Pakistan. Numerous Chechen and Arab faces have been spotted lately, and the word on the street is the early part of May is set as the date for an offensive against American led forces inside Afghanistan. Italy is on high alert for a possible terror attack. American’s are being warned to stay away from crowds, and the Italian Secret Service has made some arrests of suspected Islamic terrorists. Easter services at the Vatican would present an inviting target for the religious terrorists, and special care is being taken in multi-racial Rome to try to afford security to the thousands of tourists who flock to the city every spring. The USA has put together a list of the world’s terrorist organizations. The startling omission is the fact that the Chechen terrorist organizations responsible for wholesale slaughter of Russians, including the late night bombing of apartment buildings in Moscow, are not on the list. Someone in Washington needs to take a look at the scorecard. The US and Russia are on the same side now. It is time to put the Cold War away. Russia has been among the top two or three allies in the US war effort. From providing platitudinal support, logistical support, and intelligence gathering, the Russians have been a leader in the war against Islamic terror organizations. The Chechens are the bad guys. Make no mistake about it. They have long ties to Al Qaeda, they murder civilians, sell drugs to finance their terror campaign, and work as a base of operations for many groups around the world. Chechens are among the fiercest fighters in Afghanistan, Bosnia, and other hot spots globally. Make no mistakes here Uncle Sam. Like 1941, the Russians and the Americans are allies in this one.
